We used an ionic liquid, 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide (MPII), as a non-volatile hole conductor instead of the I-/I3--based volatile liquid electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). DSSCs with the MPII were fabricated, and their photovoltaic properties were investigated. An MPII-based DSSC showed a PCE of 0.518%, resulting from 1.304 mA/cm2 of the short-circuit current, 0.694 V of the open-circuit voltage and 57.26% of fill factior. On the other hand, the PCE of the device with both MPII and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide as a hole conductor was decreased to 0.346%, due to a significiant drop in fill factor. ∗Acknowledgements: This work is financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technoloy (MEST) through the fostering project of Industrial Complex Campus. |
