Control of Polymer Directional Alignment via Simple Off-center Spin-coating for High Performance Organic Field Effect Transistors |

Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) have great potential to be implemented in flexible devices paving the way to wearable electronic applications. High µFET in OFETs has been recently achieved with state-of-art, electron-donor-acceptor (D-A) copolymers, by improving the coplanarity along the D-A chain by chemical design leading an effective control over the polymer chain alignment in the solid film. In particular, the degree of pre-aggregation in solution prior to deposition is often found to be the key for the formation of highly aligned domains in the polymer film. In this presentation, we will present the higher performance reached (4.50 cm2/Vs) by OFETs where the polymer is aligned by off-center spin coating. The formation of an anisotropic thin film is shown to be strongly correlated with the degree of pre-aggregation in solution. In particular, we present the influence of such processing on the improvement in the FET of different semiconducting polymers. |
