Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have a wide range of potential applications such as composites, electronics, biodevices, and displays due to their unique thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. However, the applications of SWCNTs have been hindered by their poor dispersibility in solvent and host matrices. In this study, SWCNTs were functionalized by a radiation-induced grafting of functional monomers such as styrene and acrylic acid onto the SWCNTs. The dispersibility of the surface-functionalized SWCNTs was significantly improved. The surface-functionalized SWCNTs were also characterized by 1H NMR,TEM, and TGA techniques. |
