Synthesis of Oligomeric Materials for Fabrication of Polymeric waveguides |

A high viscous fluorinated oligomer synthesized for polymeric waveguides. We designed and synthesized acrylic photo-curable oligomer. The acrylate oligomers were synthesized with the perfluorinated cyclic and aliphatic vinyl monomers by anionic polymerization. The viscosity could be adjusted by ratio of monomer and catalyst. The viscosity of synthesized oligomer was higher than 250 poise. Polymeric waveguide resin developed consists of a controlled mixture of fluorinated oligomers, monomer, and photoinitiator. The refractive index and absorption loss could be controlled the ratio of viscous oligomer and monomer mixture. The refractive index of the polymer film was tuned and controlled in the range of 1.3590-1.3691 at 830 nm. The birefringence(ΔRI) of the polymers containing perfluorinated oligomer was 1x10-4. |
