Polyethyleneimine-impregnated Mesoporous Silica Materials (MSU-J and MSU-F) as CO2 Sorbents |

PEI(polyethyleneimine)-impregnated MSU-J (pore size 5 nm) and MSU-F (pore volume 1.4 cm3/g) have improved CO2 adsorption capacity relative to pure PEI (Mn ~600). The MSU-J silica with 3D wormhole framework structure exhibits large pore size relative to HMS silica (~2.5nm). Maximum PEI loading is 70wt% for the MSU-F mesocellular silica foam due to its high pore volume (2.4cm3/g). The CO2 adsorption capacity tests were performed using a cantilever method. PEI-impregnated HMS (wormhole), MSU-H (2D hexagonal with micropore), and MCM-41 (2D hexagonal) mesostructures were also examined as CO2 sorbents for comparison. |
