Environmentally-friendly plasticizers were recently used for poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC). Plasticizers are materials added during processing or polymerization to facilitate the processing of PVC and improve the performance of the final product. In this study, we synthesized epoxidized castor oil and castor oil phosphate ester from castor oil which were analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). These epoxidized castor oil and castor oil phosphate ester may be as environmentally friendly plasticizers for PVC. we integrated these plasticizers to PVC to conduct a test on thermal, physical properties and morphologies by using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), universal testing machine(UTM), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). |
