제목 Metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli strains for the improvement of H2 production activity and energy recovery yield
초록 Biologically, H2 can be produced through dark fermentation and photofermentation. Dark fermentation is rapid in H2 production rate and simple in its production process, but the yield is low as 2 mol/mol glucose in most microorganisms. In the present presentation, we report metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli to improve H2 production activity as well as H2 production yield. Furthermore, the co-production of ethanol with H2 is presented which can be an alternative solution to the low H2 production yield and low energy recovery in fermentative H2 production. A series of gene disruptions/modifications in central carbon metabolism and H2 production enzymes and their effects are presented.
