Internal structure of catechol modified hyaluronic acid hydrogel |

The internal structure of catechol modified hyaluronic acid hydrogel was investigated using small angle X-ray scattering and electron paramagnetic resonance. This hydrogel exhibits various properties due to the different bond formation originated from the reaction between catechol moieties of polymer chains and iron cations. First, it shows time dependent gelation forming covalent bonds. Second, this cured gel produces pH dependent structure in terms of the status of the coordination bonds. We probed the internal structure at various pH conditions and gelation times. The results explained the construction of gel network influenced by the type of chemical bonds. |
