In the literature, it has been reported that Nafion recast membranes significantly improves the characteristics for high tempreature operation. Nafion prepared by extrusion shows the low conductivity and the poor mechanical properties at high temperature (above 100 oC). Thus, the Nafion recast membranes are being highlighted. Recently, it was found that water free membranes containing ionic liquids have similar properties to water swollen membranes and showed good ionic conductivity and mechanical stability at high temperature (100~200 oC) and under no external humidification. In this study, Nafion was used as a polymer matrix for incorporation of ionic liquids and was annealed at variuos conditions with temperature and time. The water free membranes based on annealed Nafion were characterized in terms of ionic conductivity, thermogravimetric curve, small-angle X-ray spectroscopy, etc and were compared with those based non-annealed Nafion. |
