제목 | Catalytic pyrolysis of Refrigerant HFC-134a |
초록 | Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are man-made fluorinated gas that have been widely developed and used for refrigeration and air conditioning. HFCs are powerful greenhouse gases due to its large global warming potential (GWP), for example, HFC-134a have GWP 1,300 times higher than CO2. Therefore, proper and efficient treatment to decrease the emission of these compounds is necessary. In this study, catalytic decomposition of HFC-134a over five kinds of catalyst was investigated at temperatures ranging from 300oC to 600oC under nitrogen atmosphere. The activity test showed that γ-Al2O3-B have the highest decomposition efficiency, followed by γ-Al2O3-A, CaO, CaCO3 and Na2CO3. Decomposition of HFC-134a using γ-Al2O3-B showed 100% conversion lasting for 6 hours at 600oC. Trifluoroethylene (TFE) and CO2 were formed as by-products of the catalytic decomposition.
