제목 Self Polishing Properties of Polyurethane-methacrylic acid Block Copolymer with Quaternary Ammonium Salt
초록 In marine environments, biofouling is a natural process of colonization with a wide range of marine organisms on submerged surfaces. Antifouling paint can be defined as preventing the attachment of organisms onto surfaces. However, the most commonly used antifouling coating which is the tributyltin based self-polishing resin causes the severe pollution of marine environment. Ammonium salt-based paints include tertiary amines as biocides which have effective biocidal and biodegradable properties without accumulation in the sea environment. However, ammonium salt-based coatings were too sensitive to seawater and became swollen before complete dissolution. In this study, poly(methacrylic acid)-b-polyurethane-b-poly(methacrylic acid) tri-block copolymers(TBCs) were synthesized by using hydrophobic polyurethane as macroinitiator in atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) of tert-butyl methacrylate, and their self polishing properties were extensively investigated.
