This study aimed to evaluate fabrication and performance of IPMC actuators by introduction of poly(3-(lithium propyl sulfonate)thiophene) which is water soluble conducting polymer. In this study, polythiophene, introduced as polymer electrolyte, is conducting polymer which has capable of self-doping and it can be polymerized in simple manner, is stable to the acid and has high charge carrier mobility. For these characteristics, polythiophene is widely applied to the various electric devices. Poly(3-(lithium propyl sulfonate)thiophene) was fabricated by employing functionalized alkyl sulfonate to the polythiophene. In turn, ion channel which hydrated lithium ion can be movable was made. By introduction of Poly(3-(lithium propyl sulfonate)thiophene) instead of Nafion which is conventional polymer electrolyte, mechanical characteristic of IPMC in this study was improved. Also, IPMCs in current study revealed stable actuation performance at relatively low actuation voltage (2.5V). |
