Effect of oxygen vacancies in ceramic fillers on ionic conductivity of polymer composite solid electrolytes |

In composite solid electrolyte (CSE), the study of the highly conductive interphase between fillers and polymers, which provides a conductive path for lithium ions, is the critical issue in understanding polymer composite solid electrolytes. As research on this naturally formed interphase has progressed, many researchers have found that oxygen vacancy can immobilize the anion of Li salt and the vacancy of filler is an underestimated key factor for ionic conductivity enhancement. Here, we analyze the relationship between ionic conductivity of CSE and oxygen vacancies in ceramic filler with the highly ionic conductive CSE having indium tin oxide nanoparticles (ITO NPs)/polyethylene oxide. By modifying the surface defect of inherent vacancy rich ITO NPs via UV-ozone treatment, we can clearly demonstrate that the surface properties of ceramic filler dominate the ionic conductivity of CSE. |
