Synthesis and characterization of conductive polypyrrole/polyaniline-coated multi-walled carbon nanotubes composite |

Polypyrrole/polyaniline-coated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT) were synthesized by in situ polymerization method. The molecular structures of the resulting PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT composites were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The morphology of the PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT composites was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The SEM and TEM images showed that the fabricated PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT composites were core-shell structure. Thermal stabilities of the PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The conductivity was measured by a programmable DC voltage/current detector with four probe method. The electrical conductivity and thermal stability of the PPy/PANI-coated MWCNT composites were enhanced by addition of MWCNT. |
