TiO2 was used as a support of metal supported catalyst due to chemical stability, high acidity and the strong metal-support interaction. Herein, we investigated the influence of HCl treatment on the Pd dispersion and catalytic performance to hydrogenation of furfural. Pd/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by the treated TiO2. The catalytic activity of Pd/TiO2 catalysts was evaluated for hydrogenation of furfural to tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol. As a result, it was shown that the dispersion of Pd supported on the treated TiO2 was higher than that of the pristine Pd/TiO2. It seems to be that the concentration of the hydroxyl group increases as the concentration of HCl increases, which provided the adsorption site of metal (Pd). It was founded that HCl promotes the surface hydroxylation on TiO2 surface and enhance the Pd dispersion. |
