Synthesis and Characterization of Benzodithiophene and Fluorinated Quinoxaline-Based Conjugated Polymers for Photovoltaic Application |

We present four conjugated polymers (PBDT-Qx, PBDT-QxF, PBDT-FQx and PBDT-FQxF) with bulky 2-octyldodecyl modified benzodithiophene (BDT) and quinoxalines (Qx) were used as electron-donating and electron-accepting moiety, respectively, which is substituted with fluorine atoms onto its Qx backbone and side chains. The introduction of strong electron withdrawing fluorine atoms in multi-position of polymer, successfully enhanced power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) which significantly improved as increasing numbers of fluorine substitutions in their chemical structures. Furthermore, the position of fluorine atoms has great role to determine PCEs. The remarkable PCE exhibits up to 6.60 %. This study can clearly represent favorable contributions of F atom in quinoxaline-based conjugated polymers as a promising approach to improve photovoltaic device performances. |
