제목 cesium and strontium ion-exchange property of sulfur-encapsulated chabazite under high salt conditions
초록 We already reported that the encapsulation of elemental sulfur in the micropores of zeolites can remarkably increase the selectivity toward Cs. Although zeolites are well known adsorbents of various cationic elements including Sr and Cs, the Cesium and strontium ion-exchange property of sulfur encapsulated zeolite are not investigated.
In this study, we determined Cs and Sr ion-exchange selectivity of sulfur-encapsulated chabazite to evaluate their effectiveness for the decontamination of radioactive Cs and Sr from water. Detailed Cs and Sr ion-exchange studies revealed that the ion-exchange isotherms and kinetics could be effectively described by the Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-ordermodel, respectively. Most importantly, the sulfur-encapsulated chabazite exhibited excellent selectivity for Cs and Sr in simulated groundwater with a high removal efficiency exceeding 99.1%, indicating that the excellent potential for practical application.
