제목 | Fe3O4-Ag yolk-shell nanostructures: A novel material for Li-ion batteries |
초록 | Among the numerous candidate materials for lithium ion batteries, iron oxide (Fe3O4) has been extensively concerned as an anode material owing to its high theoretical specific capacity, abundant resources, low cost, and non-toxicity. In this present work, we have designed a unique yolk−shell structure by developing a shell of Ag on Fe3O4 yolk. Formation of metallic shell increases electronic conductivity to the iron oxide particles. It is known that incorporation of metal nanoparticles into electrodes could increase the specific capacity of metal-embedded electrodes by about 10–30% as compared to electrodes without them. However, formation of a continuous layer of metal shows higher electrical conductivity compared to metal nanoparticles incorporated electrode. Also the gap present between Fe3O4 core and Ag shell, provides space to accommodate expansion of both Fe3O4 and Ag, inhibiting the crack formation.
