Particulate matter (PM) pollution has raised serious environment concerns for human health. In order to keep the house clean air conditions, natural filtration through windows is an ideal and primary approach for improved indoor air quality in the most economically efficient way. It is required that air filter applied at windows possesses a high quality factor (QF) and high transparency for sight-view. Previous reports introduced a polymer nanofibrous filters (NFs) which have high QF and good optical transparency. Materials with higher dipole moment have better PM filtration because dipole-dipole or induced-dipole force greatly increases the adhesion of PM on the surface of used materials. Polyimide (PI) has large dipole moment, which is suitable for PM filtration. Herein, we fabricated a transparent inorganic salts/PI NFs via one-step electrospinning (ES) process for high-efficiency PM removal. Potassium iodide (KI) with high dipole moment was added for high-efficiency PM removal than using a PM filter based on raw polymer with similar transparency. Our KI/PI NFs filter has outstanding performance than reported air filters, high QF at lower transparency. |
