Nickel/N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complex catalyzes the carbon-carbon cross-coupling reactions of neopentyl arenesulfonates with benzyl Grignard reagents, which did not undergo the reaction efficiently in the presence of common Ni(0) catalysts, to produce diphenylmethane derivatives in good yields. This complex could allow the reactions to proceed at room temperature within a short period of time, which would make this reaction useful for the solid-phase or solution-phase parallel/combinatorial chemistry. |
