Silk as a natural protein produced by silkworm is used as a medical suture. Silk is composed of hydrophobic fibroin and hydrophilic sericin. Silk fibroin is an attractive natural medical material and it has been studied to develop tissue engineering scaffold and various medical supplies because its biocompatibility, biodegradation, permeability, safety of degradation product and excellent mechanical property. In this study, scaffold by various pore size was prepared using silk fibroin and growth behavior of chondrocyte cultured on the scaffold was evaluated. Compressive strength and FTIR were carried out to identify chemicophysical property of silk fibroin scaffold. SEM, MTT, RT-PCR and GAG & collagen content measurement were performed to confirm growth behavior of chondrocyte cultured on the scaffold. As a result, the growth behavior of chondrocyte was great in small pore size of scaffold. This research was supported by MIFAFF (112007-05-1-SB010) and the MEST (2012M3A9C6050204). |
