Hydrogen production and storage is a very important clean energy source. Among several hydrogen sources, ammonia has recently received attention as non-fossil fuel energy source. However, ammonia has toxic, resulting in environmental problem and risk of transportation. Therefore, it is important to solve the problem in the aspects of recovery and conversion of ammonia to hydrogen. Among several processes to recover ammonia, boron-containing large porous material, COF-10 (covalent organic framework) has received a lot of attention and is porous crystalline material composed of light elements linked by strong covalent bonds. It has been known as highly effective adsorbent for ammonia due to a high density of strong Lewis acid sites arising from boron. The COF has high-surface area and is possible to form ammonia-borane (H3NBH3) which can release ammonia at mild condition. In this study, COF is synthesized and identified by BET, XRD and FT-IR. The adsorption characteristics of COF are investigated by TPD and adsorption isotherm is discussed and compared with conventional adsorbents. |
