The influence of thermal aging on the degradation behavior of glass fiber reinforced poly(phenylene sulfide) composite was studied by means of TGA, DSC, UTM, and IZOD impact tester. For the purpose, injection moulded specimens have been aged by gear aging oven at 250℃ for up to 1500 hours. To determine the reaction mechanism, several tests were carried out at different heating rate by TGA. The influence of the heating rate in dynamic measurements (5, 10, 20, 40℃/min) on kinetic parameters, such as activation energies, was also studied. The value of the activation energy was determined by Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method. Also the respective thermal and mechanical properties as a function of thermal aging time was compared with those of un-aging specimens. |
