Synthesis of Titania beads doped by metal ions (V5+, Fe2+ and Ni2+) and their photocatalytic activities under visible light |

As a popular catalyst, TiO2 is an attractive one because it is inexpensive, easily available, high oxidation-reduction performance and nontoxic. This study synthesized metal-doped (V, Fe and Ni) TiO2 beads by sol-gel method with hydrothermal treatment. Hydrotermal method is proper to the growth of high-quality crystals for preserving control over their composition. Octadecylamine (ODA) is a structure-directing agent affecting the morphology and monodispersity control in the sol-gel synthesis. The photocatalytic activity was confirmed with the degree of methylene blue degradation. V-doped titania beads had higher photocatalytic effect than the other samples. The XRD and SEM characterized the crystallinity and morphology of the metal-doped TiO2 nanobeads. We could confirm the surface area, pore volume and pore size of TiO2 nanobeads by BET analysis. |
