This work investigated the degradation of Chlorophyll-a, green algae, diatom, phycocyanin, cyanobacreria (Microcystis aeruginosa and Anabaena affinis) using DBD plasma with 8 W of discharge power. The effect of working gas (O2, air and N2), pH, reaction time and delivered energy on the degradation efficiency was examined and discussed. It was found that the order of degradation efficiency for Chlorophyll-a was O2 (99%)〉dry air (89%)〉N2 (14.6%) at pH 9 within 600 s. Green algae and diatoms were degraded to the efficiencies of 80% and 65% with air in 20 min, respectively. The phycocyanin was degraded to be the efficiency of 98% at pH 9 in 90 s with O2. The degradation efficiencies of 99.8% for Microcystis aeruginosa and Anabaena affinis were obtained under pH 7.4 respectively in 60 s. |
