Properties of crosslinker masked by benzoic acid for powder coatings |
초록 |
When powder coatings are prepared as a bit thick film, the surface defects such as pinholes get to be serious by increasing the thickness of films. The unique method reducing pinholes is to mask and the hydroxy group of materials might be masked by using acids. The hydroxy alkyl amides as crosslinker were prepared by reacting dimethyl adipate with diethanol amine. This crosslinker was masked as follows: first, the crosslinker was dissolved completely by mixture of hydroquinone as solvent and benzoic acid as masking agent, and then the radical’s formation of crosslinker was obtained by slowly dropping p-toluene sulphonic acid as a catalyst. After dropping process, the hydroxyl group of beta hydroxyalkylamides to be formed as the type of radical was masked by using benzoic acid. The treated crosslinker which was masked by benzoic acid decreased the number of pinholes when the powder coatings converted to a film. |
