Equilibrium physical properties of a given material can be obtained by various thermodynamic equations and Maxwell relations if there are its volumetric data. It is the objective of this study to present a genuine scheme to obtain basic thermodynamic data such as volume as a function of temperature and pressure for some poly(n-alkyl methacylates) that are never given in the literature. Using the tabulated volume data for poly(n-alkyl methacrylates) with ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, n-hexyl, and n-dodecyl pendant groups, the Lagrange polynomials for the number of carbon atoms in the pendant groups are constructed to produce interpolated volume for the methacrylate polymers in between those having tabulated volume data. |
