The effect of composition on the structure of zinc borophosphate glasses |

Glasses in the system x(ZnO)-10(B2O3)–(90-X)(B2O3)(30≤x≤60 mol%) have been prepared by the melt-quenching technique. Thermal properties were studied using differential thermal analysis and the relationship between composition and thermal stability was obtained. Structural characterization was achieved by a combination of experimental data (infrared spectroscopy, 11B and 31P solid state NMR). In particular, variations in the phosphate network structure upon addition of ZnO were investigated. Analysis of the data indicates that the more ZnO exists separately from glass network and serves as a network modifier. |
