Controllable hydrophobic magnetic coatings were fabricated by casting the magnetic suspension on the substrate with or without magnetic field. Firstly, the core-shell structured particles were synthesized from the condensation of methyltrimethoxysilane on the carboxylic magnetite particles. The carboxylic magnetite particles were prepared from the solvothermal process. Induced by the magnetic field, superhydrophobic magnetic coatings can be obtained with a high contact angle above 160o. The morphology of the coating surface was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which shows an enhanced roughness. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows the particles have the core-shell structure. The composition and the structure of the materials were also confirmed by FT-IR, XRD and TGA. |
