Fabrication and Characterization of PLCL Microsphere Containing Plant Extract |

Interest in the application of naturally derived medicine in tissue engineering is rapidly growing. Drug delivery system is needed to be exploited for the improvement of the efficacy of drug. This study was intended to develop a polymeric microsphere for the delivery of naturally derived medicine, catechin, for the stimulation of osteoblastic cells. PLCL is a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer suitable for drug carrier. In this study, we synthesized PLCL and used for the fabrication of drug-loaded microsphere. We evaluated the drug loading efficiency and release pattern of the microspheres. Cellular assays displayed the microsphere was cytocompatible and promoted osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. |
