제목 | Preparation of Regenerated Cellulose Fiber via Carbonation (Ⅰ. Carbonation of cellulose) |
초록 | Cellulose can be dissolved by direct and indirect way. Viscose process prepared by cellulose xanthate is very well known example of indirect way. Many attempts have been made to avoid an occupational disease and pollution by modifying the viscose process. We chose carbonation to make carbonated cellulose which could be a potential substitute for cellulose xanthate. Carbonation was carried out by reacting cellulose pulp(DP 850) with CO2 gas under 20∼40 wt% ZnCl2, acetone, ethyl acetate or dimethyl acetamide solution. The reaction conditions were -5∼0 ℃, 20∼50 bar of CO2 and 2 hours with stirring. Molecular weights of cellulose and carbonated cellulose were measured according to ASTM D1795. Carbonation was confirmed by IR analysis and degree of substitution(DS) was calculated by chelate titration. Molecular weight of the cellulose was not changed by carbonation. IR spectrum of the carbonated cellulose showed some carbonyl stretching peaks at 1620∼1650 ㎝-1 and broader OH stretching peak at 3200∼3600 ㎝-1. DS of the carbonated cellulose was increased with the increase of CO2 pressure and the decrease of reaction temperature. When the carbonation reaction was proceeded at 50 bar of CO2 pressure and 0 ℃, DS obtained was 0.5. |
