제목 Preparation of Regenerated Cellulose Fiber via Carbonation (Ⅱ. Dissolution of carbonated cellulose)
초록 Carbonated cellulose was prepared by reacting cellulose pulp(DP 850) with CO2 gas in ethyl acetate medium. Solubility of the carbonated cellulose in 8∼10 wt% NaOH solution was evaluated by viscosity measurement, optical microscopy and observation of UV absorbance. Phase diagram of the carbonated cellulose was obtained by solubility evaluation. Viscosity of the carbonated cellulose solution was also measured by Programmable Brookfield(LV DV-Ⅱ+, spindle SC4-16) viscometer.
Four zones of soluble, insoluble, freezing and gelation were shown in the phase diagram. The carbonated cellulose solution corresponding to soluble zone was transparent and showed the lowest in absorbance and the highest in viscosity. Maximum concentration of the soluble zone was increased with the increase of ZnO content in 10 wt% NaOH solution. With the increase of zinc oxide content up to 3 wt%, the gelation was appeared at the higher concentration than 6.0 wt% of carbonated cellulose. Gelation was not observed up to 9.0 wt% of the carbonated cellulose when 8.4 wt.% NaOH:ZnO(100:2.5 wt. ratio) solution was used. Factors affecting solubility of the carbonated cellulose were concentrations of NaOH, ZnO and carbonated cellulose, and dissolution temperature. The carbonated cellulose solution was pseudoplastic and thixotropic.
