A simple method is presented for the preparation of carbonaceous CO2 adsorbents with a controlled pore size from nitrogen-containing polymer. The carbonized polymer was mixed with a solution of sodium hydroxide. The mixture was then activated thermally in the absence of nitrogen. The products obtained were washed and dried in order to prepare a carbonaceous CO2 adsorbents. A systematic study of the effect of the heat treatment temperature on the micropore size distribution of the adsorbents was carried out. The chemical composition and surface structure of adsorbents were investigated by using XPS, N2/77K isotherms, XRD, SEM, TEM, and TGA. As a result, the higher temperature led to produce the highly specific surface area, total pore volume, and increased the CO2 adsorption capacity. Amilder activation temperature favored the production of adsorbents with small micropores, containing higher nitrogen content. |
