In this work, N-doped and nanoporous carbons have been successfully prepared by using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as carbon precursor and NaOH as activated agents for supercapacitor applications. The activation process was carried out under definite conditions at different temperatures. The effect of activation temperature on the textural properties, surface functional groups, and electrochemical properties of the prepared N-doped nanoporous carbons was studied. The carbons were analyzed via XPS, N2/77 K full isotherms, SEM, and TEM. The prepared N-doped nanoporous carbons exhibited high specific surface areas and high pore volumes. The specific capacitance for the N-doped nanoporous carbons ranged from 75 to 300 F/g at 0.5 A/g in a 6 M KOH aqueous solution. |
