Study on seawater desalination process by gas hydrate formation |

The gas hydrate-based technology in seawater desalination has been proposed for more effective desalination process. The spectroscopic techniques, such as Raman spectroscopic analysis, have been heralded as the useful approach in the hydrate researches. The objective in our experiments is to obtain the information for the mechanism of separated salts in brine by gas hydrate formation. Experiments of gas hydrate formation in the salt water were carried out in a semi-batch stirred vessel at the constant pressure and temperature with guest gases. During the hydrate formations the hydrate phase was measured by in-situ Raman spectroscopy. We discussed the implications of this work in seawater desalination via gas hydrate formations. |
