The hard elastic polypropylene(PP) precursor films with row-nucleated lamellar crystalline structure were prepared to develop microporous membranes which are applicable for lithium ion battery separator. The crystalline structures of the precursor films were analyzed in terms of degree of crystallinity, lamellar crystalline orientation, long period lamellar spacing and lamellar thickness via measuring IR dichroic ratio, differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), wide angle X-ray diffraction(XRD) and small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS), and their hard elastic behaviors were analyzed via measuring elastic recovery. The uniaxial stretching of the precursor films induced the formation of micropores which were revealed via investigation of surface morphology using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and measuring gas permeability. We found that the solid-state structures of the precursor films influence on the pore structure of the membranes. |
