Biodiesel, a promising non-toxic, biodegradable, ecologically friendly alternative fuel, is produced by transesterification of triglycerides in oils and fats with alcohols, catalyst. In conventional process for biodiesel production, homogeneous base catalysts show high yield of FAME (fatty acid methyl ester) derived from oil. But these catalysts are corrosive to reactor and make saponification reaction which interrupts transesterification. Especially, homogeneous catalytic reaction requires a separation, and purification steps, which contribute additional cost for producing biodiesel. Heterogeneous catalyst, easy to separation from product, less toxic and recyclable, is widely studied in biodiesel production. In this work, we prepared heterogeneous catalyst incorporated heteropolyacid with basic aromatic heterocycle. Influences of reaction temperature, MeOH/Oil ratio, reaction time, incorporation ratio were also studied. |
