A pyrene-based supramolecule (abbreviated as PS) was newly synthesized to understand the relationship between polymorphic superstructures and photophysical property. PS showed the monotropic phase transition behavior. PS formed two synclinically tilted crystalline superstructures; a stable crystalline phase (K1) and metastable crystalline phase (K2). Each hierarchical superstructures showed the 6.75 nm and 4.30 nm periodicities of layered structures for K1 and K2 phases, respectively. K1 phase and K2 were predominantly induced by the π-π interactions and hydrogen-bonds. UV-Vis and PL experiments indicated that the photophysical properties of PS were directly related with their molecular packing superstructures.
