Graphene is a member of the class of 2-D materials, which consists of a hexagonal array of sp2-bonded carbon atoms, just like those found in bulk graphite. Since graphene was first mechanically isolated from graphite in 2004, many approaches have been developed to obtain large-area graphene such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD), epitaxial growth, and chemically reduced graphene oxide. Although various graphene synthesis methods have been proposed, the preparation of high quality and large-scale graphene has been still challenged. Here we demonstrate that high-quality, large-scale graphene can be obtained by varying process parameters during graphene growth on a metal substrate such as copper foil by using a thermal CVD process. As a result, large-scale, monolayer graphene sheets showing very low sheet resistance could be obtained, and we will discuss them here in detail. |
