In this work, coagulation and melt spinning technique were used to fabricate poly methyl(methacrylate) (PMMA) fibers incorporated with graphene oxide (GO). The amount of nano-filler was varied up to 0.5 wt% to study its effect on the properties of composite fibers. SEM images showed that the wrinkled surface of GO increases its measured thickness to 1 nm in the AFM even when it existed as a monolayer. Also, zeta potential indicated that GO suspension maintains its stability over a wide pH range. Dynamic mechanical properties of GO-PMMA composite fibers studied by DMA showed that the storage modulus (E’) of fibers were effectively increased with the addition of a small amount of GO, and their electrical resistivity was preserved in the range of an insulator. |
