Effects of textural properties on CO2 absorption property of CaO-based sorbents |

Effects of textural properties of the CaO-based sorbents were investigated in the presence of 9 vol.% H2O and 10 vol.% CO2 at 600C. The CaO-based sorbents were prepared by calcining various precursors such asCaCO3(cCaO),Ca(OH)2(hCaO), Ca(Ac)2(aCaO) andCaO(nCaO, Alrich) at 850C. The cCaO and hCaO sorbents exhibit the excellent CO2 capture capacity of about 400(absorption CO2 mg/g absorbent) as compared with aCaO and nCaO sorbents. It was known by BET that the pore sizes of the CaO-based sorbents were followed by: cCaO>hCaO>aCaO>nCaO. On the other hand, the aCaO sorbent showed low CO2 capture capacity of about 200, in spite of high surface area. From these results, it was concluded that pore size of the sorbent plays on important role in the CO2 cpature capacity due to the effect of CO2 diffusion. |
