Living/Controlled Free Radical Polymerization Using Cumyl dithiobenzoate as a Source of RAFT Agent in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide |

RAFT procedures have produced narrow-polydispersity (co)polymers with predictable molecular weights and different architectures and use special chain-transfer agents (CTAs) to control the polymerization. Reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT)polymerizations of methyl methacrylate in solution containing CO2. Product molecular weight distributions and average molecular weights indicated the successful control of MMA polymerization in CO2. The synthetic applications of the RAFT porcess are well developing. We recently demonstrated the applicability of CO2 as a solvent for RAFT polymerization and achieved excellent molecular weight control when using Cumyl dithiobenzoate. |
