Many researches have been studied to convert CO2 into valuable products. Oxalic acid (OX) is one of the products of the electrochemical reduction of CO2 and OX can be further reduced to glycolic acid. Glycolic acid (GC) is obtained by electrochemical reduction of OX and can be used in the textile industry, cosmetics, and biodegradable polymers. In this study, we used TiO2 catalyst for the electrochemical reduction of OX to GC. We prepared TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs) using anodization method, and potentiostat was performed to confirm the performance of electrodes and the effect of each parameters (potential, temperature, etc.). Chronoamperometry was also conducted using TNTs electrode prepared by varying the anodization time and electrolyte composition. We confirmed the selectivity of product for length, and the reaction mechanism within tubes was also investigated. |
