A large class of soft glassy materials including polymer and colloid demonstrate intriguing rheological features under flow and deformation condition. The complex rheological behavior of soft glassy materials is attributed to glassy dynamics resulted from structural disorder and metastability. In this presentation, the Soft Glassy Rheology (SGR) model that has been developed to describe the rheology of soft glassy materials is briefly introduced and some rheological phenomena of soft glassy materials, such as elastic to viscoplastic transition and Bauschinger effect, will be discussed in terms of glassy dynamics and local strain distribution change. |
