In this study, in an attempt to improve the rebound resilience and decrease the density of Ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) foam, natural rubber (NR) was blended with EVA. In order to investigate the relationship between cross-linking behavior and physical properties of foams, cross-linking behavior of EVA/NR blends was monitored and EVA/NR blends were foamed at 155℃, 160℃, and 165℃. The physical properties of the foams were then measured as a function of foaming temperatures and NR compositions. 165℃ was the optimal temperature for a cross-linking of EVA/NR foam. As a result, the density of EVA/NR foam foamed at 165℃ was the lowest. EVA90/10 foam foamed at 165℃ displayed lower density, better rebound resilience and tear strength than EVA foam. |
