Epoxy alcohol can be produced by two-step reaction, oxidization and epoxidation of allylic compound. Conventional synthesis requires a strong oxidant in the oxidation process, but there is a problem removing the oxidant after the reaction. So this study was carried out on the oxidation reaction using oxygen gas and photosensitizer. But the biggest drawback here is the long reaction time, which we have noticeably reduced it by using a microreactor to maximize the surface area to receive light. This characteristic is also a great advantage in the subsequent epoxidation reaction. Epoxidation usually shows good efficiency below 0 ℃, but it is very difficult to maintain an even distribution of temperature in a batch reaction and this problem is more evident when scaled up. We tried to solve this problem by using a microreactor and confirmed the possibility of mass production by continuously flow production system. |
