PDMS-SiO2 coated PTFE and ACF assembly: Towards the development of the shielding layer for aqueous and gaseous pollutants |

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane was dip-coated with a hexane-based solution containing polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) coated SiO2 and fluidic PDMS as a binder. The PDMS-coated SiO2 nanoparticles deposited on PTFE membrane surface provided a superhydrophobic characteristic with a water contact angle exceeding 160o. The adsorption behavior of dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) on the PDMS-SiO2 coated PTFE and ACF assembly was investigated by carrying out breakthrough experiments and the humidity effect was considered. Under the dry condition, DMMP molecularly adsorbed on the ACF surface and the adsorption seems to be irreversible. Under the humid condition, co-adsorption of DMMP with water vapor was observed, however, the co-adsorbed DMMP easily desorbed from the ACF surface when it is exposed to atmospheric condition. |
