The biodiesel was made by reacting the oil with an alcohol in the step of using a homogeneous catalyst mainly. However, making biodiesel with the homogeneous catalyst lead to a decrease of efficiency because it makes the experimental procedure taking apart biodiesel and catalysts complicated as well as you can't reuse the separated catalysts. In addition, due to environmental considerations, the interest in biodiesel production has shifted to the use of heterogeneous catalysts. This is due to easier catalyst removal, reusability of the catalyst, less corrosive character of heterogeneous catalysts, higher activity, and longer catalyst lifetimes. Therefore, heterogeneous catalyst was prepared by calcining a metal oxide catalyst such as CaO, CaMnO3, CaZrO3, Ca2Fe2O5, CaTiO3 for 5~10 hours at a constant temperature (500~900℃). Some equipments such as SEM, GC, and calorimeter were used for the evaluation. |
