In recent years, the utility of biodegradable polymers has received much attention due to their potential impact upon the complex issue of plastics waste management. Aliphatic polyesters are one of the most promising structural materials for biodegradable or compostable fibers, films, sheets, bottles, injection-molded products, and foamed sheet. In this study, dicumyl peroxide (DCP) and dioctyl adipate (DOA) have been selected to induce the crosslinking of PLA for improving melt viscosity by melt processing with an internal mixer. In order to investigate the effect of two modifiers, DCP and DOA, on PLA, the thermal properties of the modified PLA were characterized. Experiments were performed in order to study the effects of the blowing ratio and cell structure. Then foaming condition such as temperature, residence time and blowing agent concentration were changed. DPT and OBSH were selected by blowing agent. OBSH showed higher blowing ratio than DPT and cell structure was similar. |
