Highly efficient printable polymer solar cell modules with a new simplified series connection architectue |

Though recent power conversion efficiency of organic solar cell exceeds 12% lately, organic solar cell modules have not achieved high efficiency because of limits of transparent electrode and complicate fabrication with laser scribing methods. In this work, we demonstrate promising photovoltaic properties of loss-free, widely expendable solar cells (LESCs) with excellent geometric fill factors using a new combination of a nonconjugated polyelectrolyte (NPE), silver-nanoparticles (SNPs) and organic electron donor-acceptor bulk heterojunction composite. The SNPs facilitate the formation of metal-nanofilament while amine-containing NPE performs dual function to establish simplified solar module architecture. With the loss-free geometrical and electrical connection of subcells, we achieve a high module efficiency over 7% with a geometric fill factor as 90%. |
